Day 1
School Rules. If you could make a new school rule, what would it be and why? How would your rule change an average day at school?
Day 2
Book Bound. If you could be the main character from your favorite book, who would you be? Write about an adventure you might have as that character.
Day 3
Pet Sitter. Your family is going on vacation and a pet-sitter is coming to care for your pets. Write a note explaining how to care for them.
Day 4
Nessy's Life. Have you heard of the Loch Ness Monster? The Loch Ness Monster or Nessie is said to be a creature that inhabits Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is often described as large in size with a long neck and one or more humps protruding from the water. Imagine you’re the monster. Describe your life under the sea.

Kindness Counts. Imagine you’re given 1 million dollars to do random acts of kindness for others. What do you do and why?

Day 6
Best Pets. Which animal makes the best pet? Give at least three reasons for your opinion.
Day 7
School Pride. What is the best thing about being a student at your school? Give at least three reasons for your opinion.
Day 8
Emergency Drills. Think of one emergency drill that your school practices. Write a paper describing exactly how to do it as if you were explaining it to a brand-new student.
Day 9
PB&J. Write out the step-by-step process for making the perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Day 10
Perfect Party. Describe what the ultimate birthday party would look like if you could do anything you wanted.
Week of March 30-April 3
Day 11
Snappy Travel. Imagine you could snap your fingers and be anywhere else in the world. Write about where you’d go and what you would do.
Day 12
Food Forever. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose and why?
Day 13
Tattletale. If you saw one of your friends doing something that you knew was wrong, should you tell on them? Why or why not?
Day 14
Growing Up or Down. Would you rather be older than you are right now or younger? Why?
Day 15
Real Superheroes. Superheroes in movies and comics can do some pretty amazing things, but think of someone you consider to be a real-life hero. What do (or did) they do that makes them a hero?
Week of April 6-10
Narrative Prompt: Finish the story. Remember to have at least three events, a problem, a solution, and a punch (ending sentence.) You must add on to the second paragraph and then write a concluding paragraph.
The Blue Bottle
One night, Millie was up late reading in bed. She finished the book she was reading (The Story of Ferdinand) and looked over to her shelves to see what else she might read before she went to bed. Right there on her shelf was something she had never seen before. It was a blue bottle. The blue bottle was about as tall as a small book, had a round bottom, and a thin neck. And while the bottle looked as if it were made out of glass, Millie could not see through it. Millie got out of bed and went over to the bottle. She picked it up, carefully, afraid that it might break. She was surprised at just how heavy it was. Certainly heavier than any other bottle this size she had ever before lifted.
She looked down into the bottle, but it was too dark inside to see anything. So she shook it. She heard a rattling sound. There was something inside! She turned the bottle upside down and shook it again, to see if anything would fall out. Something almost fell out and then it didn't. Whatever was inside was now stuck in the bottle's neck. Science/Social Studies:

4. Write down 5 facts you learned.
**Repeat these directions for each day but reading the articles for Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, etc.
On Wednesday, a packet of stem activities will be available for pick up. You can substitute a reading & response for science/social studies for one of these activities any day that you choose.
**All of these responses and/or Stem activity will be collected when we return to school.
