Welcome To Riverside Elementary School
Dear Partners in Learning,
Riverside Elementary says goodbye to a busy October....classroom lessons, the arrival of our new Assistant Principal, visits to the farm, Peace Week, Respect Week, Pumpkin Night and this past week's Fall Harvest Festivities.
As we look forward to the month of November, remember that we will be having our Parent and Teacher Conferences on November 20, 23 and 24. Our teachers are prepared to share with you specific information about your child's academic performance thus far and his/her adjustment to this year's classroom community. Please know that both our classroom teachers and specialists are available to meet with you. You will not receive your child's report card at the conference as we have moved to Trimesters. The first marking period ends on December 2 and report cards will be available on December 11. On November 20,23 and 24, our school will operate on an early closing schedule.
In the spirit of learning more about our school and its program opportunities, I encourage parents to attend our November 13 School and Family Meeting in the Media Center at 6:30pm. On that evening we will honor our Star Students and begin planning our many holiday activities.
The 3rd annual Clothing Spectacular is being held on Friday, November 20 from 3-6pm. This wonderful event is intended to provide our families the opportunity to "shop" in the cafeteria for clothing ranging in sizes from infant to adult. You will be able to fill a bag for $2.00 per child in your family. These bags will be provided to you. We hope you will be able to join us.
RES has created a Remind 101 messaging account for parents. This will serve as a reminder for various school events and special activities. If you would like to receive a text reminder right to your cell phone you can sign up and join the group by texting "@mrswawrzyn" to (856) 942-4113.
During November, there are two "short weeks." This would be a great opportunity to begin to explore Study Island with your second, third, fourth or fifth grader!
Later this month, our families will enjoy some family time together as school is recessed for the Thanksgiving Holiday. As always, We wish that each of you will take the time to give thanks for the many blessings we have. Enjoy your family and Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Riverside.
Reminder, we are asking you to NOT bring any forgotten items to school for your child after school has begun for the day. With this rule, we are hoping to both encourage responsibility for our older students and most importantly, further support our security measures.
