Welcome To Riverside Elementary
School

Dear Partners in Learning,                                                                 2/1/16

Happy Winter to all.  As January draws to an end we are at the midway point of the second trimester.  If your teacher chose to send a progress report for you child, they went home on or about January 26.  Please remember that in grades 3-5 you do not have to rely on progress reports to keep abreast of your child's progress.  In grades 3-5, student grades are posted weekly by your teacher for you to see.

If you have not already done so, be sure to sign up for a Genesis account.  As you know, report Cards are not being sent home with the students.  Parents must log in to Genesis to see their child's report cards.  Please email gcamardo@riverside.k12.nj.us if you still need to set up an account.

Winter Weather Reminders-

Delayed openings are now 90 minutes (K-5)- School starts at 9:40 am.

Delayed openings (PK 3 /4) – AM preschool is canceled and PM begins at the regular time (12:10)

Should there be a delayed opening or school closing, you will receive an automated phone call.  Please make sure that your phone number on file with the office is up to date.

Information will also be announced on our website www.riverside.k12.nj.us  and on Philadelphia KYW new radio (1060 AM).  Our emergency closing code is 662.

Please use one of the above methods.  Please do not call the main office to see if there is a delayed opening or closing.

Remember that all students have recess outside throughout the winter.  Please have them come to school dressed accordingly.  Students will be brought indoors only during extreme weather conditions.

Reminder, we are asking you to NOT bring any forgotten items to school for your child after school has begun for the day.  With this rule, we are hoping to both encourage responsibility and support our security measures further.

With the new year comes an important Health change in the school.  Given the number of food and environmental allergies that exist in our classrooms, we will no longer be permitting any foods to be distributed for student birthdays.  This change will be effective in the new year (January 4).  Teachers will be working closely with parents in preparation for the limited number of holiday/end of year parties to assure that allergy concerns are addressed.
